Adriana Garcia (’13) — Re-engineering journalism
In Brazil, media ownership is very concentrated. The gigantic country has only one strong television network and a handful of newspapers with national reach and influence. Change comes slowly. Too slowly for Adriana Garcia, who is among a generation of Brazilian journalists who are eager to get more views and voices represented in their country’s media. Garcia believes the way to achieve this is to help younger journalists create new editorial products or services. First, they need help developing innovative and entrepreneurial mindsets and skills. To do this, Garcia and some collaborators have launched OrbitaLAB, a pre-idea incubator, which she describes in this talk. You can follow the development of the lab on Twitter @orbitalab.
